Show-Ya

I honestly had not heard of Show-Ya until the beginning of 2026 as I mentioned seeing them on YouTube below. Immediately I thought, oh a band that has been around for years and like most bands in the US, hasn’t created any new material for a number of years, probably 15+, and they are just hanging out with some of more recent bands that are around the Tokyo area. Was I ever wrong. These ladies have been cranking out music since the early 80s and they are still crushing it!

I love the attitude that comes forth even from their name which according to Wikipedia was chosen because it was a form of “Show You” in English. Well, they sure did, they are still here and putting out new music.

I put Show-Ya here for a couple of reasons.

They have more staying power that most bands in the world
- Formed in 1981 and still making new music.
  - They are from my generation…oh so long ago and not living off their music from the 80’s…right Vince?
- They had a hiatus for a couple of years but still found a way to put things back together and continued on long afterwards.
I believe they may have broke the ice and made it possible for many of these other all female bands to believe they could achieve similar results.
- I watched the video back on New Years day 2026 and I could see the “handing over the baton” to the younger bands. Show-Ya and Nemophilla

I’ve listened to a number of their songs and watched a lot of their videos. They are really talented and amazing at doing what they do. For those wanting to check them out, you will find them not nearly as heavy as some of the bands that I plan on going over in the future, they a pretty much just straight ahead rock and roll. I think Keiko Terada is a great vocalist and front person this band. You can really see her putting everything she has into the performance. Just an overall great band. If they ever make it to the US, I will certainly attempt to go see them, and you should too.

Music

What would it be without some samples of their music that I found interesting. Given the huge discography they have I tried to pick a few from various time periods in their career so its possible to see how they have grown over the years given they started back in the days of Girlschool and Lita Ford. You can find these surely on Spotify or catch some of them in video format on YouTube most likely.
